Advising
It is very important that students at UNK work closely with an academic advisor to develop their programs of study. Academic advisors are generally faculty members in the department of the student’s major or program of study. The Academic Advising Office assigns advisors to all undergraduate students and, upon request, to graduate students seeking a second bachelor’s degree. Graduate students seeking master’s degrees are assigned an academic advisor by Graduate Studies and Research.
Advisor information can be found on the MyBLUE homepage or on the student's Degree Audit. Transfer students are required to undergo initial advising with a Department Chair.
Advisors can help students identify campus resources, suggest techniques to enhance academic performance, provide information about career opportunities or advanced study, and more.
Students should go to MyBlue to see their degree audit, which identifies all of the classes that have been taken as well as the remaining requirements for degree completion. The name of the student’s academic advisor is also available through his/her MyBlue account. From the MyBlue homepage, students can find a comprehensive list of UNK policies and procedures, UNK catalogs and transfer guides, and a list of classes offered each semester.
